The latest issue of Forbes contains a story on
Cancer Miracles. If this Administration has its way on healthcare policy, the type of innovations and research seen in this story will disappear, as committees begin to determine what treatments are permitted and who may receive them, based on whatever ghoulish cost-benefit analysis they can come up with. It's a bit late, but this was on my mind for the past few days and I had to get it off my chest. Forbes leaves it unsaid -- indeed, the article is strictly about the science. But the horror in the background is bubbling up all through the story if read by any thinking person. I think medical innovations will be centered in the veterinary sciences -- after all, everyone loves animals; some love animals more than human beings.this brings new meaning to the dogcatcher series.
