You chose Obama and you shall have Osama. Sir Winston would have approved.


1. Gays in the Military. "Don't Ask Don't Tell" is history. Within days of entering office, President Obama will issue an executive order permitting openly gay individuals to serve in the military. The immediate result will be mass resignations throughout the officer corps, dangerously impairing our military preparedness. No need to unilaterally disarm the miltary when we will no longer have a competent command structure. President Obama no doubt will address the nation to decry the "narrow-mindedness" of these "un-american" officers; with the damage done, he will have propose no solution.

2. Israel. Military aid to the Jewish state will be cut. Israel will not receive the most advanced weapons systems it requests; despite congressional approval of these appropriations (even this may be doubtful, given the further leftward lurch of the Democrat-controlled congress), Obama will veto that bill until those systems are excised therefrom. And you thought Obama never met a spending bill he didn't like? Related to this, the Obama administration will increase the use of the language of "restraint," "painful concessions, " "the apsirations of all freedom-loving Palestinians," in all its public pronouncements regarding Israel and the Palestinians, especially after the increase in terror attacks Israel will have to face as a result of U.S. Obama-led condemnation of any military-commando actions taken by Israel to prevent such attacks upon its citizenry. Open recognition and dealings with Hamas in Gaza, as well as direct "humanitarian" aid to Hamas and, in all probability, U.S. aid to Hamas "police" forces are virtual certainties.

3. Iran. It's clear that Obama will make an early trip to Teheran, meeting adoring crowds who will be treated to another campaign speech about change and peace. These staged events will be lapped up by the U.S. media as evidence of Obama's effectiveness in dealing with Iran. No tangible gains will be obtained in any of these meetings other than Iran promising to take the Obama proposals under consideration. This will be spun by the media as major progress. And Israel will pay the price of this media love-in; accused in all the editorial pages as being paranoid, israel will be called upon to make even more concessions in order to stop being a barrier to peace. One can only pray Israel will have leadership strong enough to resist and face down this pressure.

 

I have had a few days to think this through.  We must not despair.  And I admit I was in despair.  We need to be positive.  To point out wrongheadedness at all times.  To oppose what needs to be opposed.  To support what needs to be supported.  Our sunny attitude will take us further than doom and gloom.
